The word Homeopathy comes from the Greek words homeo, meaning similar, and pathos, meaning suffering or disease. The use of Homeopathy is to stimulate the body’s ability to heal itself by giving very small doses of highly diluted substances. Why in small doses? Larger doses of these substances would produce illness or symptoms.
Homeopathy is a form of alternative medicine, discovered by German physician named Samuel Hahnemann in 1796. The central principle of homeopathy or homeopathic medicine is “like cures like”. The principle states that a disease can be cured by a substance that produces similar symptoms in healthy people. Homeopathy is used for wellness and prevention and to treat many diseases and conditions.
Homeopathy complete system is used by many cultures around the world and apart from conventional medicine. One such medical systems includes traditional Chinese medicine. Homeopathy didn’t start in the U.S. till early 19th century. With that being said, the practice has seen a growth in popularity throughout the last decade, with a growth of about 25 to 50 percent a year.
